THE REITERATION OF THE CANDIDACY OF ROMANIA FOR HOSTING, AT BUCHAREST, AN EXTERNAL OFFICE OF THE WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ORGANIZATION (WIPO)

WIPO has developed from 2005 a network of external offices, for the purpose of enhancing the activities of cooperation between WIPO and the Member States. The existing external offices, located in Singapore, Japan, Brazil, China and the Russian Federation, are aimed at promoting an efficient and well-balanced intellectual property system, favoring innovation and creativity, a system that operates in the interest of the beneficiaries and the intellectual property rights users.
Romania filed the application, at OSIM and ORDA initiative, on the 29th of March 2016, reiterating its will on February 2017.
Romania is the only State part of the Central-European and Baltics States Regional Group which filed such an application, being supported, up to date, by Albania, Georgia, Macedonia, the Republic of Moldova, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
