THE EUROPEAN CENTRAL BANK (ECB) HAS DECIDED NOT TO ALTER THE INTEREST, AFTER THE MEETING OF MARCH WHEN IT HAS FALLEN TO A HISTORICAL LOW, IN AN ATTEMPT TO BOOST THE LOW INFLATION OF THE EURO AREA.

A spokesman stated that the ECB has left the interest of monetary policy at the zero low bound, while the interest rate on the marginal lending facility has been kept at 0.25%, and the interest on deposits, which shall apply to the banks which stores the liquidity in excess to the central bank for a period of 24 hours, was left at minus 0.40%.
