THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF ROMANIA (BNR) HAS DECIDED THE MAINTAINING OF THE INTEREST RATE ON THE MONETARY POLICY TO 1,75 % PER YEAR AND THE STORAGE OF THE CURRENT LEVELS OF MINIMUM RESERVE REQUIREMENT IN DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN CURRENCY OF CREDIT INSTITUTIONS, STATES A PRESS RELEASE BY THE CENTRAL BANK.

Also, the Board of Directors of the Romanian Central Bank (BNR) has examined and approved the new quarterly report on inflation, which was accentuated in the first quarter of the current year (-3.0% in March from 0.93 percent in December 2015), as a result of the reduction of the VAT standard rate from 24 to 20 percent with effect from 1 January 2016 and the low prices of raw materials globally.
