THE GOVERNMENT DECIDED BY ADOPTING A DRAFT LAW TO BEAR THE MINIMUM WAGE IN THE ECONOMY FOR APPRENTICES AND TRAINEES WHO ARE EMPLOYED BY EMPLOYERS THAT CARRY OUT THEIR ACTIVITY IN ROMANIA.

The employer that shall conclude a contract of apprenticeship shall qualify, at their own request, during the execution of the contract (between one and three years) for the settlement of the amount paid to the apprentice or trainee up to 1125 RON/Month, the equivalent of 250 EUR.
Financing may be made from the structural and investments European funds – Non-reimbursable financial assistance to Romania, according to the law and in compliance with the conditions of the Financer, and from national public funds.
The contract of apprenticeship under way on the date of entry into force of the law shall have effect until the expiry of the period for which they have been concluded according to the legislation in force at the time of their conclusion.
In addition, the Government has decided to grant employers 1350 RON/Month, the equivalent of 300 EUR, in order to stimulate the conclusion of contract of service with the graduates of higher education.
The amount shall be granted during the period of the contract, from the unemployment insurance budget, within the limits of the allocated funds. The measure will be able to be financed by the Structural and Investments Funds and from national public funds approved by the budget of unemployment insurance. The amounts from the unemployment budget for the financing of these measures will be allocated within the limit of the budget approved for 2017 and the estimates for the following years as well.
The Apprenticeship contracts that are under way at the date of the entry into force of the law shall be in effect until the expiry of the period for which they have been concluded.
The draft law for the modification and completion of Law no. 279/2005 on apprenticeship and Law no. 335/2013 concerning the compulsory apprenticeship for the graduates of higher education will be sent to the European Parliament for adoption.
