THE GOVERNMENT’S EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 62 / 2014 SUPPLEMENTS THE GOVERNMENT’S EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 146 / 2002 REGARDING THE FORMATION AND THE USE OF RESOURCES THROUGH STATE TREASURY.

According to the new provisions included in The Government’s Emergency Ordinance no. 62 / 2014, natural persons are able to pay fees and taxes administered by Fiscal Authorities, Municipalities and other public institutions, using directly their credit cards.

This new system of payment offered by the State Treasury will facilitate the access of taxpayers to modern electronic means of payments and will ensure at the same time, the limitation of receipts and cash payments, with positive implications in order to decrease tax evasion and money laundering activity.
The commission charged on each transaction will be 0, 3 % of its value. Individuals will benefit from the facility of payment of fees and taxes using credit cards, depending on the licensing and development of required systems.
