THE HEAD OF STATE SAID THAT HE INITIALLY ASKED THE PARLIAMENT TO REEXAMINE THE LAW, BUT FOUND THAT THE LEGISLATIVE HAS BEEN TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION HIS COMMENTS AND HAS DECIDED TO PROMULGATE THE NORMATIVE ACT.

The deputies decided that the Law datio in solutum shall not apply to the First House program and have increased the lending limit from 150,000 to 250,000 euros.
Also, the deputies established that the new law will also apply to those whom are in the process of a foreclosure procedure.
At the European level, the Commission warns that this law could have a negative impact substantially on the investors’ trust, as well as to the prospects of indefinite loans.
The controversial law of datio in solutum has been promulgated and published in the Official Journal, which means that on the 13th of May the first debtor may present himself at the bank and dispose the keys to his property, in order to be remitted of his debt.
