THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION HAS APPROVED ON TUESDAY, THE 24TH OF MAY, THE TRANSACTION BY WHICH INBEV ANHEUSER-BUSCH, THE LARGEST GLOBAL MANUFACTURER OF BEER WILL TAKE OVER RIVAL SABMILLER, FOLLOWING A TRANSACTION OF ABOUT 100 BILLION DOLLARS, PROVIDED THAT THE CONSORTIUM TO SELL ITS ALMOST ALL OPERATIONS IN EUROPE.

The acquisition of SABMiller, one of the largest transactions ever carried out, allows AB InBev to control a third of the world market of beer. The portfolio of AB Inbev includes the brands Corona, Stella Artois and Budweiser, while SABMiller holds of beer brands as well as the Miller, Peroni, Pilsner Urquell and Grolsch.
Together, the new entity will sell two times more beer and will make a profit of four times higher than Heineken, the third player on the beer market.
