THE VOLUME OF THE RETAIL TRADE IN ROMANIA WENT UP BY 13.5 PERCENT IN JULY, AS COMPARED TO THE SIMILAR PERIOD OF 2015, THIS BEING THE HIGHEST INCREASE IN AN ANNUAL RATE RECORDED BY A COUNTRY WHICH IS A MEMBER OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, AS SHOWN BY DATA PUBLISHED BY THE EUROPEAN STATISTICS (EUROSTAT).

In the euro area, retail trade has increased by 2.9% in annual rate, while in the European Union, it has registered an advance of 3,5%. Retail Trade in the EU was influenced by the fact that the sales of non-food products have increased by 4.3%, those of fuels by 3.8%, while sales from food, drinks and cigarettes by 2.2%.
The largest increases were reported in Romania (13.5%), Luxembourg (12.2%) and Lithuania (6.2%), the only falls being recorded in Malta (minus 2.7%), Belgium (minus 1.8%), Denmark (minus 0,8 %) and Slovakia (minus 0.6%).
